Int this blog we will talk about few important things which will increase your chances of clearing the certification.

Lets divide the entire process of Pega certification into three broad categories.

  1. Before exam - Preparation

  2. Exam writing

  3. Tools and tricks

Before exam - Preparation

  1. Read each and every topic completely and by understanding each and every concept. Don’t just pass through it. Sometime question will be based on some minor point of topic.

  2. Do all challenges without fail to ensure you practice your learning.

  3. Don’t just read what is there in PDN course, read little extra by reading In PDN documents , blog and community.

  4. Try to paint the big picture of the concepts. See how concepts are inter related and playing a role together to deliver a business value. For example in Pega CDH, reading about engagement policy rule is good but when you read about channels and trigger try to map it with engagement policy rules and see how trigger get is related with Issues-Group then eventually to Engagement rule.

  5. Note all your questions / doubts, try to search them in PDN courses or community. Your knowledge should be based on some validations and you should be able to explain even the tough concept in easier way.

  6. If you have habit of preparing notes, please prepare. Preparing notes will give advantage of referring it before the exam. It will also help you build a reference material for yourself for future.

  7. In your notes, write only summary and important point about the concept. Your notes should not be as elaborate as a course is there in PDN. It should be to the point and take less time to revise. It should have content which can be read in a day time [ few hours] or less.

  8. Revise entire course at least twice before going for exam.

Writing Exam

  1. In almost every certification exam, there will be a set of question which are straight forward and quite easy and another set of questions which require some analysis and effort to answer. So, it is better run through all the questions and answer questions which are easy in the first attempt and questions which are tough and needs more time and thinking should be left for later attempt(s). By marking all easy questions in the first attempt will ensure that you get marks for what you know for sure. You will not miss the easy question because of tough questions and remember in certification exam every correct answer counts irrespective of easy or tough.

  2. In Pega certification exam you have feature to mark question for review. For all question which you are not sure, or need more time, you can mark them for review. And after first attempt, revisit all marked question again. Since you already answered some questions, you will feel more confident to answer the tough questions. Also because in the first attempt you read the tough question so in second attempt, you don’t need that much time to understand them, and in less time, you find he the solution for tough question .

  3. If time permits, you can revisit the questions again, to double check all questions.

  4. In exam time management is the key. Depending upon the total time you get for exam and total questions to answer you decided the time you will take for first attempt and successive attempts. Usually reserve 30% to 50% of total time for first attempt and remaining time for successive attempts.
